Imagine a world where anyone can build a newspaper publishing house, a radio station, a tv network or a film production studio. What would you want to do in such a world of infinite possibilities? Would you continue to do what you are doing today? Would you contune to work at your 9 to 5 job? If you are one of the many unfortunate people that are out of a job, would you continue to look for a new job which may take a while in this wretched economy? If you are a budding musician or an actor or a writer or a photographer would you continue to look to sign up with a big label or a big studio or a big publisher? What if you live in zimbabwe or myanmar or timbuktu with talent and desire? What would you do in this brave new world?
Well that world is here today. So your imagination and talent are the only things that can limit you.
You can write a blog, or make a short movie and upload it onto youtube, start a podcast, create your own website or sign up for facebook or myspace or flickr account and upload the great photos you shoot or the great music you make. The possibilities are endless and you can do that today. So what are you waiting for? Make things happen!
If you are looking for inspiration here is someone who went from a stripper to a hollywood star writer because she started blogging. Take a look at this video created by a musician from a bunch of random youtube clips that has become a web sensation. All you have to do is look and you will find inspiration all around you. So go for it.
If you are a media executive, think about how your company’s role changes in this new world? How can you help everyone maximize their talents and realize their dreams? If you are an entrepreneur, think about all the new products and services you can create to help make this new world a better place? Just imagine. The economy may be looking bleak all over the world but we are at the dawn of a brave new world. It is right there if you can see it. It just takes a bit of imagination.
