EMI has dropped its law suit against the free music streaming company projetc playlist and in stead start working with it.
EMI Music Group, which sued Web music startup Project Playlist nearly a year ago, has dropped its suit and will start providing its catalog to the startup, which offers free streaming music.
No terms were disclosed. The settlement, in conjunction with an earlier deal struck with Sony’s Sony Music Entertainment (SNE), means that Project Playlist now has deals with two of the big four music labels. But Warner Music Group (WMG) and Vivendi’s Universal Music Group are still suing the company.
I am happy to see the music labels trying to leverage the internet by working companies like project playlist rather than trying to control it.
